Cardiac Catheterization

This procedure is one of the most useful tools to evaluate the condition of your heart’s arteries, valves and muscles. A thin, flexible tube (catheter) is inserted into an artery through a small incision in the groin. A dye, which is visible by special X-rays (angiogram), is injected. This allows your physicians to see if you have any blocked or narrowed blood vessels and how effectively your heart is pumping.

Cardiac catheterizations are performed by invasive cardiologists who are specialists in performing these procedures. More than 400 patients receive this test at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network every month. Our all-digital cardiac catheterization labs ensure your doctor views the clearest images of your heart.
